| MASSACHUSETTS THOROUGHBRED BREEDER’S INCENTIVE Breeder’s awards are paid for MASSBRED horses that finish 1, 2, or 3: 25% to the breeder 30% to the owner (except in restricted Mass-Bred races) 15% to the stallion owner HOW A FOAL BECOMES A MASSBRED Born in Massachusetts from a mare who has been a resident since October 15 of the previous year. No breed-back requirement. OR The foal is born in Massachusetts and the mare is bred back to a currently registered Massachusetts stallion. WHEN AWARDS ARE PAID Members of MTBA are paid by the MTBA at the end of the month following the month that the award is earned. Non-members of MTBA receive awards in January of the year after the award was earned. |
