| River Keen (Ire) to Massachusetts for 2008 Breeding Season Multiple Grade I winner and millionaire River Keen (Ire) will stand the 2008 breeding season at Pine Nook Farm in South Deerfield, Mass., it was announced today by Renee Doyle, who will act as stallion manager for the 2008 breeding season. The fifteen-year-old son of Keen will stand for the introductory fee of $2,000. A talented young racehorse in Europe, River Keen (Ire) surged to fame in the United States at the age of five by winning the Grade 2 Californian Stakes at Hollywood Park. He enjoyed his best racing season at the age of seven, winning the Grade 1 Jockey Club Gold Cup Stakes and Grade 1 Woodward Stakes, both at Belmont Park, as well as the Grade 2 Bel Air Handicap at Hollywood Park. “Relocating River Keen to Massachusetts provides breeders in the state a most unique opportunity – to breed their mare to a grade 1 winning, millionaire stallion without having to cross the state line,” said Renee Doyle. “He has shown the ability to sire all types of runners - from sprinters to distance horses who excel on both turf and dirt courses. He will prove to be a great value to the breeders of Massachusetts.” River Keen (Ire) is the sire of allowance winners Keen Lassie, Keen Spirit, Keen Eye Will, and Hailey Keen among others. He is fast approaching the one million dollar mark in progeny earnings. River Keen (Ire) will stand as the property of a syndicate. |
